Have fun learning how faces are different between boys and girls!
The ability to identify gender is important for interpersonal interactions and provides a basis for communications between two or more people. A young child may find it difficult to identify a person's gender, especially when external cues such as hair, jewelery, and clothing are not visible. Children may also have difficulty identifying gender of faces that are not typical of society's ideal of masculine or feminine features. As they grow, children learn to associate certain facial features with the different genders. This skill allows them to decipher whether that person is a boy or a girl.
